Forest City Swing Weekend Workshops

Friday June 4th and Saturday June 5th

Welcome to Forest City Swing’s first weekend Lindy Hop workshop! Listed below are the different workshops being offered. Sign up quickly because space is limited.

These workshops will be taught by Jeremy Otth and Laura Keat. Jeremy and Laura have been honored by the California Swing Dance Hall of Fame in 2008, teach all around the world and performed on the TV show “Dancing With The Stars.” Please visit their website www.fastandfancyfeet.com for their full credentials.

Friday, June 4th

These workshops are geared towards those who are learning the Lindy Hop. Everyone, beginners and experienced dancers are encouraged to attend the Friday night workshops. Friday workshop is offered only as a package.

7:00-8:00 pm — Sweet Six Count Combos: 6 count moves and Lindy connection
8:00-9:00 pm — Swing Out Sensation: Lindy Connection and the Swing
9:00-10:00 pm — Lindy Legos: Learn to connect moves and transition smoothly

Saturday, June 5th

These workshops are for those who have some Lindy Hop experience and comfortable with the basic Lindy. These workshops are topic based. Sign up for them individually or take all of them as a package.

9:30-10:45 — Advanced Lindy FUNdamentals for everyone
Learn the technique that will turn you into and Advanced dancer sooner

10:45-12:00 — Lindy Hop Footwork and Styling
This class will help you learn some new footwork and styling to dress up your dancing as well as help you learn to create your own styling on the dance floor

1:15-2:30 — Everybody LOVES the Charleston
Learn some great partner Charleston moves, combinations and variations

2:45-4:00 — Make it Flashy!
Some great moves and tricks for showing off on the dance floor, plus the tips to make YOU look good while doing them.

Saturday June 5th Evening Dance

A Forest City Swing DJ will DJ the evening dance.
8:00- 11:30 — Dance
Admission: $3

FCS Lindy Lessons Begin 3/4/10!

Forest City Swing Thursday Night Lessons:

Forest City Swing will start teaching the Lindy Hop on Thursday nights starting this Thursday 3/4/10!  Lindy Hop is a more diverse and fun dance,  a little difficult to learn, but don’t worry, we will be teaching Lindy for begginners.  We believe you will like the Lindy Hop even better than the 6-count.  Admission is still the same.  Every week we will be teaching 45 minutes of Lindy Lessons.  Be there on time as with the Lindy, it is very difficult to “jump in” on the lessons if you are late.  See you all there!

Weekend Lindy Hop Workshops! June 4th & 5th

No Swing Dancing Thanksgiving

Hello everyone! Have a great Thanksgiving!  Forest City Swing will not have Swing Dancing on Thanksgiving so please do not show up at swing dancing on Thanksgiving.  We will have swing dancing again starting next week.  Have a good Thanksgiving.

Other dates of no swing dancing for 2009:

Christmas Eve December 24th and New Year’s Eve December 31st. 

We will have our CHRISTMAS/NEW YEAR’S dance on January 7th, 2010 with the live preformance from the Jodi Beach Trio.

Swing Dancing Video Clips Wanted

Have you shot some video at a recent Forest City Swing swing dancing event? You can now share it with the rest of the FCS community online! We’re looking to feature different videos on the FCS website as well as create an archive of all videos for future reference.

To share your video, simply upload your video to YouTube. Then, send an email to webmaster@forestcityswing.org with the link to view the video. After doing so, your video will likely be featured on the front page of the FCS website as well as added to the FCS channel on YouTube at youtube.com/forestcityswing
